Well, it's been a while! hmmm, since the last past, muir is on hold. I'm not even sure if the lace yarn I got at the Sheep and Wool Fest is going to be muir now. we will see. only things on the needles right now are socks for mom, my sweater (thermal from knitty) and my falling leaves scarf (knitty). I have played both Assassin's Creed 2 and Dragon Age: Origins, both kick ass games. Waiting impatiently for Final FAntasy 13, and the expansion pack for Dragon age. Car died, was reborn, and is limping along for now. other than that, nothing major to note. life chuggs along :) and now I'm tired. I shall eat some cookies, knit a little (ignoring the tape that is covering the chew marks my cat gave my good sock needles *glares at said cat*) and watch some tv. overall, good night :)

Books, knitting, and gaming.

Three updates on things. On the gaming side of life, almost done with Fallout 3 (total rock) it's a good game. Assassins Creed 2 is coming out soon, *jumps* I'm getting the Master Assassin's version, and I'll be sure to post pictures. and I'm also playing Guild Wars again. Always fun.
Knitting, *sigh* I'd like to say that I'd made a huge amount of progress on Muir, but that would be lying. I haven't touched that project in a week. I've been focusing on my hat pattern and working on branching out. And since I need to finish off a few Christmas knitting gifts i have a feeling that Muir is going to get pushed back even more.
And last, but not least i have a book recommendation. Read The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss, it's amazing. It's the first book of a trilogy, second book isn't out yet. But it's worth waiting for, this book is amazing. Pat is an amazing amazing writer. It's been a long time since I've had a new book grab me and not let me go. And this is one of them, the only reason I haven't finished the book yet is because I don't WANT it to end. i don't want to stop reading the story of the Kvothe. It's a book that will stay on my shelves for a long time to come.

Rhinebeck, Muir, and work

Lots of fun things recently. First of all, I landed myself a promotion at work. Always a good things, unfortunately it means I get to be on the phones now, but oh well right? Better hours and better pay, mean more time to knit and more money to buy yarn.
Also headed to the NYS Sheep and Wool Festival, had a blast. Went with Amanda, met up with Sam and a few of her friends. Lots of good food, and LOTS of yarn. But it was far to busy and crowded for me to get a good look at anything, so i think next year I'll go later in the day, might not have as good a selection, but I can't deal with all those people. Granted it meant I spent less many than i had planned on, which is always a good thing. But still! i was hoping to grab a sock kit or two, as well. I still made out good, I found a huge hank of this beautiful teal lace yarn for 30 dollars. I officialy <3 Maple hill farms. 100% merino wool, 2500 yards of the stuff. Spent all night at my dad's house makeing use of my step-mom's computer to find the best pattern I could. Decided on Muir from knittying, don't remember which season. i'm hoping the color changes will show up well. hopefully i'll be able to post some pictures either later today or tomorrow.
Well I'm off for now. Back to work, back to the phones and the lovely world of pharmacists and doctors.

I'm back, I think. maybe. who knows?
i'm at work, *shusssh* don't tell on me. listening to The Last Hero by Terry Pratchett and wishing I was home knitting instead. this post probably won't be long, but *shrug* a short post is better than no post! hopefully I can start getting involved with things again, like forums and things. and yea we'll see XD back to work I suppose!

Christmas knitting

Yea, I know I'm a little late on staring this but I'm happy to say I really don't have to many projects. two scarfs, and mayhaps some socks. nothing amazing. but so far I am very happy with my chosen projects. the Dragon Scarf by morehouse is amazing. and so is their merino wool. It's so wonderful soft that I almost don't want to give it to my nephew, I mean he won't understand the beauty that is merino wool . . . right?

Ah, it's been a long time no? Life has been , .. . . uh busy? last post was me on my way down to Georgia. Since then I've decided that I didn't like it there and came home. I miss my fiance. but *shrug* what can you do? On a whole tho' life has been swell. Though chances are I won't agree with that much longer, I'm starting my christmas knitting this week. I know a bit late, but then as any of my friends will attest to, I am a procrastinator of a high degree. But hopefully this blog will not fall into as much disuse has it has in the past. Or at the very least my posts will be more frequent than once a year. Twice a year! Thats it, take it slow!

Fracksville

Hello everyone! Right now I'm getting comfy at an EconoLodge in Fracksville PA. I've taken a few pictures so for but they're on the camera which is sitting out in the moving van. Jack and Doobie say hi to everyone as does Darren.

In Knitting news. Rogue has be disposed of. I messed up the pattern badly, and I wasn't happy with how it was turning out. While I love Knitpicks Wool of the Andes, the drape doesn't work for the pattern. So Rogue was ripped and the yarn has been repurposed the yarn for Elizabeth Zimmerman's Seamless Hybrid Sweater with saddle-seam shoulders (pg78) from EZ's book Knitting without Tears. (A very very good book by the way) I've only got about mayhaps and inch and a half done of the body but so far so good. Eitherway that's enough for tonight, time to get some sleep.

Hello all! I know I haven't been keeping up with my posting *pouts* But between work and school what free time I do have is spent with la fiancee and knitting, usually both! In other news, did my taxes the other day and it's looking like I'll have enough to get a spinning wheel. Not the one I really want cause I'm only getting 317 dollars back (the one I wants about 500) but there is one that's actually made out of PVC piping, and while it doesn't fit the whole traditional feel I wanted with a spinning wheel, at about 170 dollars it fits the budget! XD Rogue's coming along well, and I've broken my promise I've started about a billion other projects lol Sometimes Yarn just calls my name!! XD

Amazingly I am still alive. School started last week and has unfortunatly zapped up most of my time and energy. No progress on knitting projects to really show off. Hopefully next week, once I've adjusted to running on three hours of sleep again I'll be able to make some time to knit. Hopfully we'll get a snow day so I can stay home and spend my day knitting. Now I must go and read soem more of A Midsummers Night's Dream. :-p

1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer higher quality and/or natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand? Naw, I love yarn period. I don't care if it's acryilic or a natural fiber.

2. Do you spin? Crochet? I do spin, I like crochet but I can't do it to save my life lol

3. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in? A simple clear glass. Was a candle holder, but lost the candle that fit in it.

4. How long have you been knitting? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced? I've been knitting for a little over a year, I'd say I'm an intermediate knitter.

5. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list? Nope.

6. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.) my fav scent is patchouli although rose and Jasmine are good too.

7. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy? I love candy, I'm a HUGE lover of Lindt chocolates :) Also, anything with peanut butter in it is good XD

8. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? I do like sewing and making bags, I just haven't been able to make anything in ages cause my sewing machine kicked the bucket *glares at said sewing machine*

9. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD) I love all music. I almost always listen to some music while I'm knitting.

10. What's your favorite color? Or--do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can't stand?Orange and Green are my fav colors, and there aren't many colors I don't like.

11. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets? I live at home, with my three year old nephew (he likes 'playing' with my yarn X.x) I have a cat and a dog who's hair seems to get everywhere.

12. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos? All of the above XD

13. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? I love the colorways of Alchemy yarn and I adore Brown Sheep burly spun.

14. What fibers do you absolutely *not* like? Nope, love them all ;)

15. What is/are your current knitting obsession/s? cables and fair isle.

16. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit? bags, I love em XD The more that better!

17. What are you knitting right now? Right now I'm finishing up Simply Marilyn (Interweave Knits). Working on the 'We call them pirates' hat from Hello Yarn and Rogue from Girl from Auntie/

18. Do you like to receive handmade gifts? Of course! handmade gifts are the best!

19. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? I like them both, but I tend to use straight when I'm at home and circular on knitting that is going to be traveling, which is normally all of my knitting.

20. Bamboo, aluminum, plastic? bamboo! :) I love all wood needles but bamboo are the best.

21. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift? No, I need to pick a yarn winder up though

22. How did you learn to knit? Taught myself in Nov 04. My best friend was looking at the teach your self to knit books in the back and I decided to learn how to do so :)

23. How old is your oldest UFO? >.> Sweater I started shortly after I started knitting. (Simply Marilyn) I've worked on it bit my bit over the last year and I just seamed it up the other night. It's full of mistakes but I like them cause it shows my progress as a knitter.

24. What is your favorite animated character or a favorite animal/bird? I love cats and my fav animated character is Freakazoid and Leela from Futurama

25. What is your favorite holiday? Halloween and Christmas

26. Is there anything that you collect? books. I love books :)

I'm looking for a good book on cables (if any one has any suggestions I'd appriciate it) I'm also looking for two skeins (about 50g) of sport weight yarn. In bright Orange and lime green .

29. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn? I'd like to learn entrelac and mayhaps try my hand at an Aran sweater.

30. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements? I have yet to knit socks,but that's changing soon! Once I finish the hat for my fiancee I'm making him a pair of socks

Well I'm a good way into Rogue, I've started the kangaroo pocket and the cables are looking great! :) Simply Marylin in back in the U.F.O. basket again >.> Maybe I'll finish it in time for next Christmas lol. I've only been working on that sweater since November of 04 XD Anywho I have another project that I've set my sights upon. The 'We Call Them Pirates' Fair Isle hat at Hello Yarn.com. I'm going to do one for me (orange and green) and one for my fiancee, Darren. (black and blue) I figure I need something to bring with me. Schools starting back up again and I hate being caught with out something to do. In other good news my Ipod shuffle was finally shipped the other day. So shortly I'll be able to listen to music while knitting!

It's the yarn for Rogue* Came in the mail the other day. I was amazed at how quick it shipped! I ordered it at like midnight on the 26th and got it on the 31st. *Dances* It's Wool of the Andes in Mist from knitpicks. I also got a size 7 addi turbo needle, I love it. Unluckily the gauge isn't right so I can't use it for Rogue. Have to use my size 9 Boyle needle >.> Also in the picture is the first KnitLit book. I picked it up the other day at work (both a good and bad thing, working at a bookstore had expanded my library but depleted my wallet o.o;;) I have KnitLit 2, now I need to pick up KnitLit the third!
This is my first post of substance and will (hopefully) be the first of many. I'll be posting pictures of my past projects and once I figure out how to do it I'll have those cool shiny little progress bars as well! o.o Maybe that will help me actually finish a project XD Anywho, back to knitting!
